Our story, our mission, our vision.

We didn't start with a building. We started with a belief.

Who we are

Mentorship programs

UGLY Start Outreach was built for young men who need someone in their corner — especially those the world has already written off. We're based in Gastonia, NC, and we're here to prove that the right people at the right time can change the whole trajectory.

Leadership development

We didn't start with a big budget or a fancy building. We started with a belief — that no young man's future should be decided by his zip code, his family situation, or whatever came before.

our mission

IMG_8534.HEIC

To create a safe, consistent space where young men can figure out who they are — and build who they want to become.

WHAT WE'RE DOING RIGHT NOW

Round table talks

Honest conversations about real life. The kind most people don't get to have.

One-on-one mentorship

Paired with an adult who actually shows up. Week after week. Not just once.

Community outings

Getting out, doing things together, building the kind of trust that doesn't happen in a meeting.

Guest speaker sessions

People with real careers and real stories. Not inspiration — perspective.

Life guidance

Communication. Decision-making. How to handle work, relationships, and everything in between.

A safe space

Somewhere to be honest, without judgment.

WHERE WE'RE HEADED

The goal is a permanent outreach center.

A dedicated space where young men can walk in any day of the week and find structure, support, and someone who already knows their name.

Not a drop-in program.

Not something they age out of. A real place, with real resources, and adults who are there every time.

We're not there yet.

But every volunteer, every dollar, and every partner gets us closer.

BE PART OF IT

Whether you give your time, your skills, or your money, you're investing in something real. These young men don't need pity. They need people.
